SAINT-LOUIS - Lot 89

SAINT-LOUIS A crystal paperweight in a constricted basket shape (made with a pliers technique), crafted from white latticino and edged with two white and blue braids. The top features a “blue” millefiori design, centered around a white and red flower, with the rim adorned with stylized white flowers. Signed “SL” and dated 1981 within the design (red motif). Height: 3.9 cm - Length: 9.9 cm - Width: 7.9 cm. A small firing flaw on the underside. Produced in a run of 500 pieces according to Gérard INGOLD’s book, *Les boules presse-papiers et les sulfures dans les Cristalleries de Saint Louis* (Paperweight Balls and Sulfides in the Saint Louis Crystal Works), published by Hermé, 1985. From the section on “Limited Annual Editions,” pieces manufactured in 1981: “Basket with a constricted neck and blue millefiori, inspired by the famous piece from Clichy.”
