(Jean-)Baptiste THOMAS, famous coachbuilder of horse-drawn carriages, active in Paris from 1820 to 1877.
His workshop was located around the Drouot district, rue de Provence, then rue Le Peltier in the 1820-1830s.
In 1830, the magazine "La Mode" referred to him as "Le premier des carrossiers de Paris".
Under the July Monarchy and the Second Empire, the workshops moved to the Champs-Elysées.
He established partnerships with other coachbuilders, notably between 1845 and 1850, with ROBERT, rue du chemin vert.
Few cars from his workshops have survived to the present day.
