FRANCE, Third Republic. COULAUX et Cie, Klingenthal. NCO cavalry saber for cuirassiers or dragons, model 1896. Wraparound brass five-point hilt, undecorated, with median edge, short-tailed cap, signed under the shell "G. Barré, fabt. Paris". Spindle made of horn with copper filigree. Straight, single-edged, double-sided, flat-backed blade, signed, ending in a counter-edge; hallmarks on the heel. Single-ring steel scabbard. Blade length: 95 cm. - Total length: 113.5 cm. As is. Wear and scratches on the guard, cracks and minor damage to the spindle. Rusty scabbard, bent stinger.
