FRANCE, July Monarchy (1830-1848) Manufacture royale de Chatellerault. Mounted gunner's officer's saber, model 1829. Single-branch brass hilt and quillon with flowered rosette, and short cap decorated with palmettes and laurel branches. Fuse sheathed in modern brown leather and copper filigree. Single-edged curved blade with two wide hollow sides. Heel engraved "R.ale de Chatellerault, Mai 1838, A. F.". Sheet steel scabbard with two straps. Blade length: 81 cm - Total length: 98.5 cm. As is. Wear, scratches and knocks, particularly to the hilt. Pitting and oxidation on blade and scabbard, without bowl, pierced.
