Provenance: - Claude-Louis Gazeau (1765-1835), royalist, very active during the Vendée War, then imperial notary in Saint Florent le Vieil. During the Restoration, he hosted the Duchesse d'Angoulême in 1823 and the Duchesse du Berry in 1828, at his Mont Glonne estate in Saint Florent. - then by descent to the Countess PUTECOTTE de RENEVILLE, née Alice EXSHAW (1924-2022), grandmother of the owner. Given the presence of the royal coat of arms and the period of the silversmith's activity (1820-1828), could this not be a present offered in 1820 on the occasion of the birth (September 29) of Henri d'ARTOIS, Duc de Bordeaux, son of the Duchesse de Berry, the "miracle child", or even a little later as a gift, notably by Louis XVIII or Charles X, his grandfather? Such as "le parc d'artillerie" [PM41000915], made of wood, bronze and steel by Lieutenant Ambroise and presented by Charles X to the Duc de Bordeaux, and now kept at the Château de Chambord. A Gribeauval system silver (950) white and gilded forage cart, to the same scale, and by the same silversmith, was sold at Maître De BAECQUE & Associés on November 18, 2016, lot 170. This carriage was reproduced in "Jouets militaires", pl. 118, in D'ALLEMAGNE (Henry-René), "La maison d'un vieux collectionneur", presented by Guillaume Janneau, Paris, 1948, Lib. Gründ.
