Trained in fashion design at the École Duperré and the Institut Français de la Mode, he cut his teeth at Balenciaga, Carven, Jil Sander and Oscar de la Renta before going solo. From 2019 to 2022, he was artistic director of his eponymous brand. For "Les Uniques", Alexandre Blanc chose to transform a beautifully crafted oak table with a highly pictorial print. "Painting is at the heart of my practice. I love it when you can feel the brushwork on textiles and, here, on wood." The designer painted right on the table, drawing motifs both baroque and geometric, alternating matte or slightly transparent flat tints of color in raw varnished wood. "I really enjoyed doing this customization work, which is in keeping with a tradition of ornamentation, in the manner of the painted scenery of a theater stage or a fresco. I wanted to create a trompe-l'œil effect, where shadows play an important role. I've always thought that ornament can be very noble." The table with its raw, minimalist design approaches. The result also evokes the work of wood marquetry as well as the decorative motifs found at the Villa Farnese in Caprarola. "Sylvette Lepers seeks to capture the very essence of creation, projecting herself far beyond expected trends. She imposes no constraints; what interests her is the singular expression of each individual." Press Kit - January 2025, Les Uniques, A capsule of solidarity and creativity featuring eight talented designers, La Redoute.
