FRANCE, Second Empire (1852-1870) Blackened wood veneer and brass marquetry support cabinet, first part, decorated with scrolls and interlacing or fillets, with chamfered front jambs, resting on a scalloped plinth. The front opens through a glass door with a cut-out top, onto a mahogany veneered interior with two brass shelves. Gilded bronze ornamentation, such as frieze of foliage, gadrooned mouldings, falls, rosettes, mask... Anthracite marble top, with cut angles, probably added. 109 x 87 x 44 cm. Some scratches, notably on the marble, a few accidents, dents and chips. Bottom probably pierced for electricity.
