Mahogany veneered English-style chest of drawers, opening with two doors revealing three drawers with low fronts, and two long drawers, one in the waist underlined by a fillet finished with palmettes and the other in the plinth. Sainte Anne gray marble with double molding on the profile. Double-stamped LEMARCHAND. 93.5x 129 x 58 cm. Some cracks, chips and chips; elements to be refixed; lock on belt drawer missing; scratches and grenrues on the marble. Louis-Édouard Lemarchand (b. 1795) was a soldier in the imperial armies, and returned to his father's workshop in 1815, cabinetmaker Charles-Joseph Lemarchand (1759-1826), at 17 rue des Tournelles, which he took over on his death. He expanded the business, becoming "cabinetmaker to the Crown and Duke of Orleans" during the reign of Louis-Philippe, delivering for all the royal palaces.
