After Armand Auguste CAQUE (1795-1881) Galerie numismatique des rois de France. Collection of 74 patinated bronze medals with profiles of French kings and emperors from Pharamond (reign 420-428) to Napoleon III (1852-1870) and Marianne, some dated (between 1836 and 1840). The one representing Louis XVIII is signed by Gayrard. They are presented on four velvet-lined trays bound in one volume. 19th century. Diameter: approx. 5 cm. Minor oxidation. Bound in gilt brown calf. Album height: 43 cm. Wear, rubbing, small leather tears. After producing a large number of medals under the Bourbons, Caqué was commissioned by Marie-Thérèse de France (1778-1851) to produce this famous Galerie numismatique des rois de France, a set of 74 medals that he exhibited at the Salon from 1836 to 1839.
