ALLEMAGNE, Nuremberg, fin du XVIIème ou XVIIIème siècles Wrought-iron "corsair" chest with riveted bands forming a grid. Front adorned with a false star-shaped lock, with two slotted mobile lugs that fit over the two lugs with rings, fixed to the edge of the lid, and allowing the addition of a bar with padlocks (missing). Concealed keyhole on top of lid, with strong key. Seven-bolt lock with mechanism protected by an openwork plate decorated with engraved chimeras. Two strong, movable, partially twisted side handles. Red-painted interior, featuring a spring-loaded lidded eclipette and a twisted-stem lid compass. 37 x 80.3 x 41 cm. Formerly painted green, stripped and cleaned. Used condition. A few holes; some rivets missing from the mechanism's protective plate; old traces of corrosion, a few spots of oxidation.
