SECOND EMPIRE Officer's sword of the Imperial Guard, model 1860, type 1817 with chasing. Chased and gilded brass mounting, with one-branch guard with crowned N on foudres, keyboard with the Great Imperial Arms under helmet and on flag bundles, ball-and-socket counterclavicle, marked "Garde impériale". Pommel with eagle and flower. Horn fuse, with watermark. Triangular blade, marked on the heel "Mre Impale de Châtt, O. de la Garde, Mle 1860". Blade length : 79.5 cm - Total length : 95.5cm. Without scabbard. Missing ball joint. Wear and scratches to the gilding; some cracks and chips to the fuse; oxidation to the blade.
