PATENT LETTERS on vellum authorizing Sieur Nicolas François Thérèse GONDALLIER [de] TUGNY, Baron of the Empire, Officer of the Legion of Honor, Marshal of Camp, Commander of the Artillery, of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, to remain in the service of His Majesty the King of the Two Sicilies [Joachim MURAT (1767-1815)]. Imperial Palace of the Elysée, March 20, 1812, sealed in the presence of the Council of the Seal on May 6, 1813. Signed by Napoleon. With red wax seal, on ribbons, hanging. 42 x 57 cm. Some pitting, some breaks; crack and chips to the seal. Nicolas François Thérèse GONDALLIER de TUGNY (1770-1839) was a French general of the Revolution and the Empire. Trained at the Military School of Paris in 1785, then at the Artillery School of La Fère in 1786, he was appointed supernumerary officer in the 7th regiment of foot artillery on September 1, 1789. Knight of the Legion of Honor, June 14, 1804. Officer of the Legion of Honor, July 13, 1809. Authorized to pass to the service of Naples as brigadier general, by imperial decision of December 31, 1809. Authorized to remain in the service of Joachim MURAT, King of the Two Sicilies, by imperial decision of March 20, 1812 [our document]. Promoted general of division in the service of Naples on June 27, 1813. Admitted to retirement on October 6, 1815, at the age of 45 years.
