Pair of large Etruscan-style candelabras in chased gilt and - Lot 57
Pair of large Etruscan-style candelabras in chased gilt and silvered bronze composed of an amphora, with two small handles, decorated with palmettes, applied daisies and gadrooned base, with three sinuous uprights in shanks of fawns, with clawed feet on molded pallets and with heads of chimeras, and a bouquet of six arms of lights with central stems topped by flowers and ears. The ringed hocks underlined by a crown of Virginia creeper. Second Empire. H. 72 cm. - Width : 25 cm. Small lack at the end of a leaf. Wear and some scratches to the gilding and silvering, with some oxidation. This pair of candelabras is to be compared, by its design, with the production of the House of BARBEDIENNE, in particular its base which can be compared with that of a pair of candelabras, topped by a wader, of this bronze maker.
