VERLAINE Paul (1844-1896). Autograph POEM, [For E,1896?]; 2 pages in-8 (16.8 x 10.5 cm), small tears without loss of text and repairs. First draft manuscript with erasures and corrections of a poem from Invectives. Working draft, with erasures and corrections, of a love poem written for his mistress Eugenie KRANTZ and collected in Invectives (Vanier, 1896), with eleven variants or corrections. It is the piece LXV of the posthumous collection Invectives. This poem of 6 octosyllabic quatrains was inspired by the last companion of the poet, Eugénie Krantz, to whom the poet reproaches his accesses of jealousy, while forging unceasingly the chains which attach him to her. Around the theme of the "charming right" exercised by the woman, "doctor in female right", he gives here one of his most evocative poems of the love submission. It is the only known manuscript of this poem, with about ten variants: "You make me a little headache O jealous as well as the suspicion I am not always with the festival When you make me, jealous, the lesson "
