QUENEAU Raymond (1903-1976). - Lot 174
QUENEAU Raymond (1903-1976). 3 autograph MANUSCRITS, one signed "Raymond Queneau", [Preface to L'Iguane, February 1965]; each on a page in-4, one on the back of a subscription coupon for records from the Cercle de Poésie. Preface to L'Iguane (Gallimard, 1966), a collection of fantasy stories by Jean BLANZAT (1906-1977), in three states: first draft, working manuscript, and clean-up (typescript attached). "To use a famous expression, Jean Blanzat has created a new thrill. [] his fantasy is of a disconcerting originality, a perfectly personal fantasy to which I know no predecessors. It is that all the unusualness which appears in it does not refer to legends, to more or less known, more or less rare themes, it is underpinned by a new, Blanzatian theology and demonology to which there is no equivalent [...] Everything is unusual and disturbing. [...] The stories that make up this collection are exactly chilling. If cats read this book [...], they will show all the signs of horripilation, as when they see passing under the atmosphere what man does not know how to see - and what Blanzat makes us discover in the mirror that he holds up to us "... An autograph manuscript signed in homage to the painter and poet Georges CLAIREFOND from Nîmes (1 page and a half in-8 with corrections; plus 2 typescripts and a L.A.S. from G. Clairefond, 1966); and the autograph manuscript of a presentation text on André SALMON poet (1 p. in-4; plus a L.S. from André SALMON to Raymond Queneau, with a letter to the Gallimard publishing house, 8-9 September 1953).
