WAR OF 1870. 2 letters by ball of Moulins (Allier). The letters with handwritten mention "Paris by Moulins (Allier)" were transported from the province to Paris in a ball, called since Boule de Moulins. The letters, centralized in Moulins, were put in a zinc ball, dropped at the bottom of the Seine and then recovered with nets in besieged Paris. Letter dated from Bosc on January 2, 1871, addressed to Paris and coming from NAUCELLE (Aveyron), by ball of Moulins. Stamp of departure of NAUCELLE, January 2, 1871, 1st collection. Postage of a 20 c. of Bordeaux and an 80 c. Empire laurel. Arrival stamp, place illegible, January 3, 1871. Letter dated from Geneva January 3rd 1871 for Paris, with its envelope from Saint-Julien-en-Genevois. Postage removed by immersion, postmark on envelope SAINT-JULIEN-EN-GENEVOIS(1) 3 JANV. 71. No arrival stamp. We join a letter dated Paris 6 november 1870 for Chaumont-sur-Tharonne, with false postmark.
