HEBBERT & Co, 8 Pall Mall, East London, XIXème siècle
Strong sword of Scottish type known as "broadsword". Steel basket hilt with strings and openwork heart motifs, lined with red velvet skin. Hemispherical pommel with cruciform molding and turned knob. Twisted spindle covered with brown basane, possibly reported, (without watermark). Straight blade with two edges and central gutters, engraved with a poly-lobed cartouche and a laurel wreath on one side, and, near the heel, the name of the maker. Blade length : 81.4 cm - Total length : 96.2 cm. Without scabbard. A few small shocks, notably to the blade; wear to the engraved decoration; some oxidation, especially on the basket or the tip of the blade.
