NIVERNOIS Louis Mancini-Mazarini, duc de (1716-1798) poète et traducteur, diplomate et ministre [AF 1742, 4e f].
Autograph MANUSCRIT, and 2 L.A.S. "Le Duc de Nivernois" and "Mancini Nivernois"; 2 pages in-8 filled with tiny handwriting, 1 page in-4, and 2 1/2 pages in-8 with address. Two poems: Le mari qui enterre sa femme, tale (30 lines, with erasures and corrections) "To avoid the carpenter's expenses Certain husband carried his wife to the lodging ". followed by L'Huissier de la G.C., epigram (10 lines). Calais September 10, 1762, to a duke, on his failed departure for England... "I have sent [] to Monsieur (is it still necessary to say the cte de Choiseul?) a small bundle of observations which I have made according to the statements of M. le D. de Bedfort to me. I would be very flattered if you could find something useful in it" November 15, old style [1795], to the citizen de Mesnières at Chaillot. He never lends his manuscripts: "my drafts are so scribbled and crossed out that they are unreadable. I have recently been busy putting them in order, and on the way I am correcting them". A l.s. of recommendation to the count of Angiviller (Paris June 7, 1780); and a letter (autograph?) to Antoine Danchet are attached.
