HUGO Victor (1802-1885). Victor Hugo à Louis Bonaparte (Jersey, Imprimerie Universelle, [1855]); in-16 square, red morocco, smooth spine, lining of same skin decorated with a gilt fillet, red moiré silk endpapers, gilt head, muted cover preserved, case (G. Cretté successor of Marius Michel). First edition of this rare 14 pages booklet. Copy enriched with the following pieces mounted on tabs: - 2 L.A.S. " Napoleon Bonaparte " from NAPOLEON III, the first one from 1849 addressed to Victor Hugo : " Paris ce vendredi 22. My dear Colleague Here is a passage on paper from my hand, it is very badly written, but I wanted to send you the original. When you have read it, you will give me your advice. Receive the expression of all my lively friendship ". The second one, from 1850, is destined to an officer in charge of recovering from Victor Hugo's home the manuscript of his memoirs that the president Louis Bonaparte had entrusted to him, one year before, for proofreading. - A violent autograph note of Victor HUGO against Napoleon III, on the back of a catering invoice dated January 10, 1853: "There will be two Napoleons in history: the Napoleon on the column and the Napoleon on the pole. England will have had the fortune to be the executioner of the first and the intimate friend of the last. - A beautiful photograph (13,8 x 10 cm) of Victor Hugo taken in Jersey in 1855.
