Small set of scientific instruments: * three compasses. - one with gimbal in a cylindrical box in varnished brass. Paper dial, not signed. H. 5.2 cm - Diameter: 8 cm. Scratches from use. - a travel clock in a square mahogany box. Copper dial, not signed. 2 x 6.5 x 6.5 cm. Some cracks, scratches, shocks; two holes. - one with gilt metal clasp. Silvered dial, not signed. Diameter: 5 cm. Worn, slightly deformed. * a small timer (?) in varnished brass. Silvered dial, not signed. Small dial at 6 o'clock. Spiral movement (to be revised). H. 6.8 cm. Wear, scratches and some oxidation. Case with the form (used). * galvanometer. A spring gallows, finished with a needle, above a graduated circular dial. Under glass bell and wooden base, tripod. H. total: 12.2 cm. * manual piston in brass and glass, with two turned wooden balls. Length: 37.5 cm. Wear, oxidation, cracked ball. * Removable counter of machine, with 5 digits, with brass case. Length: 7.5 cm. Damaged, non-functional. * brass weight stack box "200 grams". H. 2.4 cm - Diam. 4.7 cm. Hinge broken; first weight missing; oxidation. * two 17th century style brass weight boxes, one with a patina. H. 9.5 or 3 cm - Diam. 6.5 or 4 cm. Empty. One handle missing. Provenance : Laboratory of Auguste VERNEUIL (1856-1913), inventor of synthetic ruby.
