Graduated brass blade, probably formerly silvered. Pinnule with its sight cylinder, detached. H. 46 cm - Width : 46.4 cm. Small chip on the reverse side of the V; a few cracks, including one flush with the rear handle and one through the arc of the circle to the assembly with the left post; small accident with missing wood at the location of the pinnule on the right post. In a resinous wood travel chest, shaped with two gilt brass hooks and lock. Bearing inside the English dealer's label [H.] "SYKES [dealer installed] Place du Palais Royal, A Paris". H. 48 cm - Width : 50 cm - Thickness : 12.6 cm. Scratches and shocks, from use; upper part of the lid redone; handle missing. It is probably made by the English optician engineer, Peter DOLLOND (1731-1821), active in London in the second half of the 18th century.
