Théodore DECK (1823-1891)
Pair of vases with bulging belly and flared neck, decorated with floral scrolls and qilins, supported by two harnessed elephants, on openwork quadrangular bases with rounded edges, quadripods, celadon glazed ceramic. The vases' handles are made of chimera heads. Signed in hollow under the base. Around 1880-1890. H. : 54 cm. One vase with a firing chip under the base and a small one on the neck. The other vase with a firing chip under the base, with an elephant presenting a restoration to the legs and a broken trunk, to be glued back. This model is known in two colors celadon or turquoise.
