Pair of ormolu Medici vases with handles with bearded heads, and the body decorated with centaurs carrying baskets of grapes, on a quadrangular base in black patina and ormolu with a frieze of prickly leaves and flowers and applied motifs with a woman's head with palmettes among vine branches. Possibly old incense burners, with missing lids. French work from the beginning of the 19th century. H. : 31,5 cm. Small defects of cast iron, some wear, scratches and small oxidations to the patinas. 1 000/1 500 51 Pair of gilt bronze and brown patinated candelabras with bunches of five lights, decorated with leaves, flowers, scales, palmettes and scrolls in crosses, coming out of a cornucopia, decorated in suite, carried by two figures of Diana or Apollo, standing on a sphere united on a leafy rose, placed on a circular pedestal decorated with friezes of gadroons, palmettes, acanthus leaves and flutes on a square base with foliage and steps. Axial arm finished by a removable flame. End of the Empire period or beginning of the Restoration period, first quarter of the 19th century. H. : 69.5 cm - W. : 19.5 cm. To be straightened slightly. A few defects of the font; some wear, scratches and small oxidations to the gilding and the patina. Bibliography : This model is also known entirely gilded or with variations in the distribution of the patina. The design of these candelabras is often attributed to Pierre-Philippe Thomire. The identity of the male figure, with the staff, does not seem to be really determined: - a pair of similar models, which passed in the Koller sale, Zurich, Switzerland, of September 17, 2015 (no. 1283), was shown as having a Hercules figure. - a pair of models with similar carvings and arms, but different pedestals, passed in the Aguttes sale, Neuilly sur Seine, December 18, 2018 (no. 225), was presented as having a figure of Endymion.
