"The melodic design [...] remains of a very interior expression and one finds the repetitive, bewitching character of an endless, suspended litany, whose modulations do not alter the serenity. This is a truly inspired page, whose ideal simplicity, enhanced by the varied arpeggios of the piano, is immediately striking" (Condé p. 670-671). Autograph manuscript of the contralto part (2 p. in-fol.); autograph orchestral material in 7 parts (1 page in-fol. or 3 p. in-4 each): horn in F and horn in D, 1st violin, 2nd violin, violas, cellos, double bass (in duplicate); orchestral score by a copyist (22 p. in-fol.), plus the material by a copyist
