ARAKS SAHAKYAN
Las Meninas, 2019 Pigment markers on bristol paper 42 x 59, 4 cm WORKSHOP #42 ARAKS SAHAKYAN Born in Armenia, emigrated to Spain, Araks Sahakyan is a transdisciplinary artist based in Paris. She graduated from ENSA Paris-Cergy with honors. Evolving between several languages, Araks has made translation a central process in her work. Through drawing, video or performance, she plays with the boundaries between reality and fiction and deploys a work where geopolitical and aesthetic issues related to displacement and identity intersect. In 2021, her work "Paper Carpets" in collaboration with Ramón Rico Carpena can be seen at the 65th edition of the Salon de Montrouge and at the CODA Museum in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands. Following the awarding of the FoRTe Île-de-France grant, Araks will present a solo exhibition in October at the Ygrec Art Centre in Aubervilliers. In 2022, she will exhibit at Giudecca Art District in Venice.
