J. PROBIN [in Birmingham] Flintlock Pistol, from a pair. Signed lock and gooseneck hammer with flat bodies. Safety blade behind the hammer. Round barrel, then with three sides to thunder, with hause te mire, and Brimingham hallmarks. Smooth. Caliber 12 mm. Tailstock engraved with scrolls. Walnut barrel with flat stock and oval brass thumb piece, numbered and No. 1. Cut-out iron fittings, trigger guard engraved with a vase and acorn-shaped grip. Wooden ornamental ramrod, reported. Barrel length: 23 cm - Total length: 36.8 cm. Weapon badly reverberated. Blocked safety blade. Oxidations; worm holes, cracks, shocks and accidents to the barrel. A harquebusier named J. PROBIN is referenced in Birmingham at the beginning of the 19th century.
