An important cartel of architectural form, in first and counterpart marine turtle shell (Chelonoidea spp; pre-convention) tinted red and engraved copper, decorated with scrolls, tendrils and scrolls, mask of Daphne and theatrical characters. The chased bronze and gilt dial presents cartouches with blue Roman numerals on a white enamelled background, a chariot of Appolon drawn by two gilt bronze horses under the dial. The uprights, topped by flowering pots, are decorated with four characters in term representing allegories; the feet composed of four horses lying and harnessed with a wrought saddle cloth. Rich ornamentation in gilt bronze including masks of satyr, clasps, lion's head, shell, acanthus leaves and snakes in scroll. The amortization presents a sculpture of armoured soldier holding an arrow in his hands. Movement signed Ducoroy in Paris. The base is in the shape of a scroll and rests on four feet. Louis XIV style, 19th century. H.: 96,5 cm - Length: 54 cm - Depth: 24 cm. Cracks, accidents, restorations and missing parts.
