Suite of twelve pewter and lead alloy plates, one with traces of gilding, representing Christ SALVATOR MUNDI and eleven apostles in niches, accompanied by their respective attributes, fleurons in the spandrels, scrolled pediment with hanging hole. Inscriptions on the lower part; SALVATORE. MVNDI, S. PAVLVS [deleted], S. MATTHIAS, S. TADEVS, S. MATHAEVS, S. THOMAS, S. ANDREAS [deleted], S. IACOBVS. MINOR, S. PHILLIPPVS, S. SIMON, S. IACOBUS MAIOR [deleted], S. BARTHOLOMAEVS. Total height: 15.7 cm to 15.1 cm - Width: 9.3 cm to 9.7 cm. Small accidents, hole in the plaque of St. James the Greater, missing St. Peter and St. John. Series were also made in bronze, as shown by the two gilded bronze plaques in the collection of Dr. Arthur Sambon (sale Munich, May 9, 1914, lot 141). The Bardini Museum in Florence holds only one in gilded lead. No complete series of the fourteen plates seems to be known. Book consulted: I.
