Pair of circular earrings. The center of each one is decorated with a character made of turquoise mosaic, and red and purple spondylus. They hold at arm's length a snake that forms an arc above their heads. The mosaic is framed by a gold disc decorated with embossed beads. These discs are fixed on a silver tube that was embedded in the earlobe of the dignitary. Natural gold leaf embossed, silver leaf and mosaic. H.: 17,5 cm. - Diameter: 4.5 cm. Left-hand tube detached with old traces of glue. To be reattached. One of the tubes is missing. Provenance: Poulain & Le Fur sale, Drouot Montaigne, 7 November 1994, lot 70.
