Since 1997, Guillaume Gomez has been the chef of the prestigious Maison de l'Élysée. He imagines and concocts menus with flavours and recipes skilfully studied for receptions, official dinners of personalities and heads of state and presidential lunches and dinners. In this intimate book, he unveils some of the most prestigious emblematic meals in French gastronomy: the official dinner of General de Gaulle during the visit of John Kennedy and his wife Jackie (1961), that of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip and François Hollande (2014), the lunch of Mr & Mrs Obama and Nicolas Sarkozy (2009) and more recently the reception given by President Macron in honour of the visit of Donald Trump and his wife (2018). Through some fifty recipes commented by him, Guillaume Gomez takes us on an incredible gastronomic epic in the heart of the meanders of power where he must constantly reinvent himself, create, innovate without trickery or artifice and always with pleasure and greed. President Sarkozy once paid him this compliment: "You can't imagine how much you mean to France's image". Not only is he the emblematic chef of the Élysée Palace, one of France's best workers and the President of the Cuisiniers de la République Française, but he also brilliantly promotes French gastronomy and the French art of living throughout the world.
