TARA SHAKTI - Lot 30
TARA SHAKTI Painting "The Crowned" 2017, pictorial work of the Malagasy painter Tara Shakti : Feminist, artist committed to gender equality and the preservation of the Malagasy heritage, her art questions the human and environmental conditions of life. If the flamboyant colours illuminate her canvases with an incredible brightness, the messages sometimes have the darkness of situations that upset her. Among her works, a series of portraits of women, still seated, illustrates the intolerable treatment women have endured for too long; another series of paintings and drawings is based on divinatory art, the Sikidy, an ancestral practice in Madagascar. Coming from a family of artists, Tara Shakti cultivates eclecticism with talent; musician in Metal Opera groups, draftswoman, her taste for painting was revealed by Goya's "black paintings", her first source of inspiration. In art history, she is fascinated by the technique of the great Italian masters such as Titian, Raphael... and goes to Italy to learn painting and fresco; there, she paints her first work "Transmutation" which receives a prize at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris in October 2017. Since then, she has been exhibiting on the international scene, in Rome, Madagascar and New York, where she won the "MOSAIC 2019 AWARD" in 2019 in New York in the category of committed painting, denouncing human trafficking. Today she is an art consultant, graduate of the Drouot school in Paris. "The Crowned" 2017 is an acrylic painting on canvas, size 100x70cm, signed above left and countersigned with date. https://fr.tarashakti-art.com/about
