MAGRITTE René (1898-1967)
Correspondence of 28 autograph letters signed with 6 original drawings, addressed to Gaston PUEL [1946-1955]. Set of signed autograph letters, including 3 postcards, with 5 small original drawings, in ink or ballpoint pen, using the motifs of some of his paintings. In addition, 15 miscellaneous documents (tracts, publications and maps) are attached, most of them bearing the recipient's autograph address in the painter's hand. Two letters are added: one from Marcel Mariën (1 p. in-4) and a postcard signed by Louis Scutenaire. The letters and documents are placed in double sheets of "Johannot" wove paper. The first page bears the signature of the painter in blue felt with a yellow border; the whole is enclosed between filled covers bearing the name of the printed painter. There are also references to works or illustrations in progress: "[...] Maldoror illustrated by me has not yet come out. If the publisher received requests from all over, he would shake his balls even more" (letter of July 1, 1946). He explains the genesis of his paintings at length, as follows about the "S
