MAGRITTE René (1898-1967)
Signed autograph letter addressed to Joë BOUSQUET Jette-Bruxelles, August 3, 1946, 2 pages in-4 in ink on squared paper. Nice autograph letter signed, relative to his works, addressed to the poet Joë Bousquet condemned to live lying down as a result of a war wound. "You knew that when you ate a piece of fruit, it was like the sun entering your body. This feeling is similar to the one that gives meaning to one of my last paintings: La Vie Privée [...] and makes us understand this revolution in my painting [...]. No Orchids for Miss Blandisch manages to reach a certain peak, in horror, the disgusting. I propose exactly the opposite [...] You know the 'surrealist' painting such that the practice of countless 'artists' has become unbearable [...]. I hate my own past and that of others, I love the laughter of young children in freedom [...]". A fundamental letter to understand Magritte's career.
