LHOTE André (1885-1962)
Reunion of 6 letters and 3 autograph cards signed Gordes and [s.l.], 1947-1957, set of 15 pages in-4, in-8 and in-12. (Small stains and marginal tears). A collection of 6 letters and 3 autograph cards signed, one of which is addressed to Anatole Jakowski, relating to the painting and writings of André Lhote. - 1 signed autograph card addressed to Anatole Jakowski, (Paris, 13 October [1946], 1 page in-12) about a retrospective at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. "...] I sent 40 paintings to Brussels for this retrospective at the Palais des Bx-Arts. ...] I'm not too spoiled by criticism. It's as if a watchword has been given. [...] The dominated emotion, according to the advice of Gide and Valéry (and the example of Le Poussin), doesn't interest anyone anymore. If this continues, I will exhibit my paintings in draft form and finish them after the exhibition! 5 autograph signed letters addressed to an unidentified addressee, ([s.l.], 1947- 1957, 9 pages of various formats); - 2 cards and 1 autograph signed letter addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Fournier, (Gordes, Gadières, 1948-1950, 5 pages of various formats).
