FRANCE, fin du XIXème ou début du XXème siècle A six-ribbed covered circular vegetable dish in silver (950) with a frieze of gadroons with two lateral rush holds with leaf attachments. Cover with a large catch simulating an English ducal crown on a square cushion with pompoms. With a circular presentation dish with five clasps, decorated en suite. The belly and lid of the vegetable dish and the wing of the dish engraved with a coat of arms under a ducal crown, presented by two heraldic griffins and underlined with a motto: Mutate Timere Sperno. Lining in silver (950). Minerva and goldsmith hallmarks with signature: André AUCOC (1856-1911). Total net weight: 2.801 g. Length: 29 cm. - Diameter: 30,5 cm. Wear, scratches and some shocks. The motto resembles that of the family of the Duke of Somerset and Beaufort: Mutare Vel Timere Sperno (I disdain to hide or to be afraid). But their coats of arms are very different.
