Autograph notes; 13 pages in-12 or in-8 on various papers, sometimes printed on the back or typed. Preparatory notes for writings on art. One finds in these drafts Cocteau's interrogations on the painting of PICASSO and CHIRICO, on the perception of the work of art, its reception, the act of creation. "Picasso is the painter whose paintings are poems. Chirico is a poet whose poems are paintings. In what they differ and resemble and occupy us "... "To write the "life" of Picasso is impossible because the monstrous beauty of this painter resides in the fact that his life is his work"... "Never in the course of these notes, it will be necessary to confuse the literary painting, true plague, with this kind of painting which concerns us because it is made by poets "...
