Following the fashion show held in July 2021 at the Hôtel Drouot, the Renaissance association and the Drouot group are once again joining forces to organize the first Couture auction of upcycled pieces.

44 outfits, as well as accessories, photographs and a painting are offered for sale on July 7, 2022 at 7pm in room 3.

About Renaissance

Renaissance, a non-profit association founded in September 2019 by Philippe Guilet, proposes a method to reinvent fashion by taking up the principles of Haute Couture.

It advocates on 3 axes:

-

Social

Renaissance mobilizes local residents who wish to integrate but who, for various reasons, are not able to access the traditional job market. This project contributes to giving these people back their self-esteem and confidence in their abilities and allows them to express and develop their talents.

-

Environmental and sustainable

The association's project illustrates the way in which Couture or Haute Couture clothing, no longer worn, from prestigious wardrobes, can experience a Renaissance. The economy of the fashion industry, the second most polluting sector in the world, needs to be rethought. By deconstructing the industry's luxury clothing stocks and transforming them into new outfits, Renaissance proves that the ultimate solution is within reach.

-

Know-how

France is world-renowned for its know-how in the field of Haute Couture. By deconstructing and recreating a piece, Renaissance teaches a new generation all the techniques and methods that are practiced in the fashion and design houses.

Renaissance teaches the know-how of Haute Couture and its methods during a ten month "First Hand Beginner" training course. Men and women from different backgrounds work together in the real and professional conditions of a couture workshop. These requirements are necessary in order to best transmit a craft know-how applied to Haute Couture.

The training takes place in

3 steps

:

-

Awareness of what a garment represents and its construction,

- Deconstruction and reconstruction for the rebirth of a garment

- Presentation of the collection during a fashion show

The training is

35h/week for 10 months. It is given by a first workshop and technical supervisor and the artistic director.

The training concerns hand sewing techniques, model making (once a month), luxury upcycling and is accompanied by a socio-professional follow-up.
