Attributed to CARTIER & European Watch and Clock Company Men's wristwatch. Tank-shaped case in yellow gold (750). Ivory-backed dial, signed, with black-painted hour-markers, Roman numerals for the hours and scale for the minutes. Thick domed crystal. Hand-wound mechanical movement, signed European Watch & Clock Co Inc. numbered 404633. Hinged caseback, numbered 19466 and 03948. Brown lizard leather strap and metal buckle. Circa 1935/40. Eagle head hallmark, trace of goldsmith's hallmark on case, beginning with E (?), illegible, probably Edmond Jaeger. Gross weight: 25.2 g. - Case size: 23 x 23 mm without lugs. Scratches to case and bracelet, dial probably repainted, missing stem at case hinge. The European Watch and Clock Company was founded in 1920 by Edmond Jaeger and Louis Cartier, whose movements equipped the watchmaking productions of Cartier and Jaeger Lecoultre from the 1920s to the 1950s.
