Abraham YVER, Angoulême.
Two-box onion striking watch.
First case in plain silver (min. 800), the rim highlighted with an openwork frieze of foliate scrolls animated with animals, chimeras and an angel bust.
Second silver box (min. 800) cast and chased with a Diana the Huntress in a medallion, bordered by leaves, flowering baskets, profiles in ovals and heads of faces. The bezel is edged with a frieze of ironwork motifs, punctuated with shells and florets.
White enameled dial, black painted hour markers, Arabic numerals for hours and minutes, dots for minutes.
Fusee and chain movement. Plate signed "Abraham Yuer, à Angolême [sic]", with large cock.
Stylized fountain pillars. Spring cylinder adorned with an openwork leafy scroll.
Gross weight: 200 g. - Diam. first box: 48 mm.

Cracks to the dial; wear, scratches and a few knocks; minor deformations to the bezel of the second case.
Abraham YVER or YUER (1661-1720), famous watchmaker, merchant and founder of a very important dynasty of Protestant origin, active in Angoulême between the end of the 17th century and 1783.
