HANAU or SWITZERLAND, circa 1845-1860 - Lot 2
HANAU or SWITZERLAND, circa 1845-1860 Yellow gold (585) snuffbox, on a frame, in the form of a moulded, chiselled cartouche on all sides, with flowering scrolls and Virginia creeper leaves and fruit partially enhanced with translucent green and opaque white enamels. Hinged lid with grip lip chased with a flowery rocaille cartouche. Two partially effaced hallmarks, one in the form of an escutcheon [S under chevrons]. Gross weight: 83.8 g. - 23 x 82 x 65 mm. Some wear and minor damage to the enamels; a few scratches.
