Emile GALLE (1846-1904) Large truncated-cone speaking vase with a raised heel. Brown glass on green ground. Decorated with the verse "Les grands feuillages chargés de brume et de secret" signed Rollinat and foliage branches. Signed Gallé 1900 (signature for the 1900 Paris Universal Exhibition). 46 x 17 cm. Some bubbles, some burst, neck possibly ground. Small blemish in between. Maurice Rollinat (1846-1903) was a poet and singer-songwriter, whose best-known work is Névroses. He distinguished himself as a stage performer in the cabarets Les Hydropathes and the famous Chat Noir. The line in this vase is taken from the poem "Nuit de feuilles", Nature, 1892.
