Infantry warrant officer saber, model 1845-1855. Brass hilt with one branch, overhanging plate and openwork shell of foliage, with scrolled quillon and horn spindle. Straight blade with flat back engraved "Manufre Imple de Châtellerault Aout 65" and with a gutter, a wide hollow section and a cutting edge. Leather scabbard with three brass trimmings underlined by nets and with two bracelets. Later blade dating from the modification of the model, reassembled on an earlier mount [cf. control marks F.A. Bisch (B) controller of 1843-1861]. Blade length: 77.5 cm - Total length: 94 cm. Watermark missing; cracks and chips on the spindle. Blade cleaned, formerly oxidized; accidents to the scabbard, with clevis to be reattached. ATTACHED: Light cavalry officer's saber, model 1822. Brass three-branch guard and plate decorated with foliage. Curved blade with round back, with traces of inscription (Klingenthal ??) and with one gutter, one hollow side and one edge. Metal scabbard with a strap. Blade length : 92 cm - Total length : 110.5 cm. Watermark missing. Wear to the gilding; oxidation with rust on the scabbard.
