EMPIRE OTTOMAN, Turquie, première moitié du XIXème siècle
Kilidj sword of the "Pala" type. Mounting with symmetrical cruise in silver (min. 800) formerly gilded, decorated in continuation of the scabbard, with auricles and quillons with olive buttons. Handle in stick with plates in horn. Two chain rings (missing). Curved blade with back, one edge and a strong counter-edge in the last third, with a wide gutter-finished edge and delimited by a fillet starting with a chimera head and a rectangular cartouche (blank). Gilded scroll decoration near the blade, on one side. Wooden scabbard sheathed in black leather, with a wide seam in the center, and two long silver plate fittings (min. 800) formerly gilded, partially nielloed (or blackened?), decorated with foliage scrolls, crescents and palmettes, with two wide curved bracelets, decorated in succession, mobile rings. Total gross weight : 1.640 g. - Blade length : 83 cm - Blade width at the heel : 3.7 cm - Total length : 100.5 cm. Chips and scratches on the horn; wear on the gilding, some oxidation on the blade, probably cleaned; scratches, some shocks; some missing parts on the scabbard, especially on the bolt.
