Flintlock rifle, called "Tüfek". 1812. Lock and hammer "à la morlacca", or Mediterranean version of the lock "à la Miquelet", made of steel with inlaid gold scrolls. Octagonal damascus barrel, decorated with four rings and friezes of openwork stings in applied gold. Hole of aim under ogival bridge with the tone. Smooth. Cal. 16 mm. Tail of trigger in facetted bud, without trigger guard. Long shaft in drowning (?) with rich ornamentation out of silver plates (min. 800) applied and nailed with decorations of geometrical friezes or flowers, or of foliage and interlaced flowered openwork. With five rings of maintenance of the silver barrel (min. 800) underlined of nets and lambrequins cut out engraved of stylized sheets. Stock of section "in terminal" with six sides, decorated in continuation, thick heel out of blackened wooden. Thumb piece with calligraphic inscription [***] and date of Hegire 1227 [1812]. Two movable bandolier loops on the left side. Iron nail stick. Silver decoration exempted from hallmarking because prior to 1838. Length of the barrel: 93.5 cm - Total length: 126.5 cm - Gross weight: 3,350 g. approximately. The net of the stick masking an old break with repair and possible enture. Scratches, shocks; small accidents and some small misses with the silver ornaments, missing nails of fixing. [***] Two translations seem possible of the contents of the thumbpiece cartouche, depending on the language chosen: If it is Arabic: "Work of the designer Mohamed, the trustworthy". If it is Persian: "This is the work of Rostam emam Mohamad Amin". We thank both translators for their help.
