Saber of superior officer of musketeer of the First company of the military house of the King, known as "Grey Musketeers". Gilt bronze and chased mount, with a cage guard with six branches, decorated with laurel leaves, and ending in crossbars, joining a shield pelte openwork on fluted basket and stamped with the Cross of the Musketeers fleur de lys and radiating. Counterguard decorated in suite. Curved quillon with "melon ribs". Short-tailed cap, decorated with the Cross, with flowers, palmette, laurel wreath, and olive branches. Pommel with lion head. Wooden handle sheathed in black waxed calfskin and watermarked. Straight blade with two sides with hollow, formerly blued in third, engraved in continuation of the cap and gilded, with flat back signed "Frères Weyersberg à Solingen". At the heel, a gilded cartouche signed "DUC fourbisseur de la maison du Roi rue S. honoré n° 251". Blade length : 92 cm - Total length : 108 cm. Without scabbard. Crushing of the counterguard to be partly reattached; one branch to be reattached; central twisted watermark missing; heavy wear to the gilding and to the blued patina; oxidation to the blade with shocks on the edge.
