BOISROBERT François Le Métel de (1592-1662) poet, abbot and chaplain to the King; a favorite of Richelieu, he suggested to him the idea of the Académie Française, which he organized and of which he was a founding member. 2 autographed POEMS, and 2 L.A.S. " Boisrobert " ; 1 page in-fol. To Monseigneur le Cardinal on the death of Alfonce Mancini his nephew. Sonnet, [1658] (1 page in-fol.). Sonnet by the founder of the Académie Française, dedicated to Cardinal MAZARIN [In January 1658, at the age of fourteen, Alphonse MANCINI, Mazarin's nephew, fell on his head while playing with his classmates at the Jesuit College, and died. Mazarin was very affected by the loss of this nephew, in whom he had founded great hopes. Boisrobert, then in disgrace, sent this consoling sonnet which touched the cardinal and provoked his solemn return to grace and his reception at Court by the Queen. This sonnet was collected in the 1659 edition of Epistres en vers et autres oeuvres poétiques de Boisrobert]. Alfonce had, I confess, a too rigorous fate ". To Monsieur Pelisson (1 page in-4, address "Pour Monsieur Pelisson prez Mgr le proc[ureu]r gnal" with red wax seals with arms on grey silk lakes). Beautiful letter in verse of three quatrains to his friend the historian and academician Paul PELLISSON-FONTANIER (1624-1693) : " Pelisson, si ton loisir / Ce matin te peut permettre / De jetter loeil sur ma lettre ". Lyon September 7 in the evening [1632], to M. de RODES (1 p. in-fol. , address on the back). On the defeat of Henri II de Montmorency before the royal troops commanded by Henri de Schomberg at Castelnaudary (September 1); he announces that RICHELIEU has made him prior of la Ferté sur Aube ". Meinières June 2, to Denis Charpentier, counselor and secretary to the King and first secretary to His Eminence [Richelieu] (1 p. in-4, address with red wax seals of arms on red silk lakes). Attached are 2 autograph manuscripts and a P.A. by Guillaume COLLETET, including a calligraphy poem, Sur les sceaux rendus. To Monseigneur le Chancelier.
