MARSEILLE, seconde moitié du XVIIIème siècle Covered sugar pot. In silver (950) with a body engraved with garlands of flowers, one holding a laurel medallion (virgin), with two handles in the form of branches of leaves together, and resting on four small scrolled feet with leafy attachments. Moulded neck; shoulder and bottom highlighted with a shell lip. Curved lid, underlined by nets, decorated with garlands and with a frieze with three strawberries on four leaves. Goldsmith's hallmark worn [I.C. - open crown]: probably that of Ignace François COLOMBIER, received Master in 1761, still active around 1789. Jurande de MARSEILLE hallmark for 1782. Date "1782" engraved later at the point on the bottom, near the hallmarks. Repunched with a crab. Weight : 423 g. - H. 13.8 cm. Wear and scratches; some shocks, notably to a foot and to the lid.
