Large oval brooch mounted in yellow gold... - Lot 4 - Drouot Estimations
Large oval brooch mounted in yellow gold (750) punctuated with a line of white half pearls, grain set, centered on a miniature on paper depicting a woman in bust, dress and blue cap, bordered with fur. The background is lined with a white mother-of-pearl plate. Pin in yellow gold (750). Traces of a possible monogram [C.T. or C.F. ???] on the left. Early 18th century for the miniature. 19th century for the setting. Gross weight : 30,4 g. - Size : 5,7 x 4,7 cm. Miniature to be refixed in its mount. Some scratches from use, slightly deformed pin; some cracks to the mother-of-pearl plate on the reverse. Some wear and tear on the edges of the miniature, with old restoration to the subject's ear. According to family tradition this woman is Marie-Casimire-Louise de LA GRANGE d'ARQUIENS (1641-1716), wife of Jean SOBIESKI, King of Poland. However, her face does not resemble that of the known portraits.
