The King of Rome asleep. Oil on cardboard. 10,1 x 12,5 cm. Soiling; cracks; small missing edges. Gilded frame in molded wood and fleur-de-lys in stucco (wear, chips and missing). On the reverse of the frame a label: Jacquemart-André () Rome. 81 / () February. On the reverse an old handwritten label, probably in the hand of Eudoxe Marcille, traces the provenance of the work, and gives the following indication: in 1820, the fleur-de-lys were substituted for the imperial crown. Provenance: Lavallée sale 9 March 1818, no. 21; Planche sale 1 June 1840, no. 34; C. Marcille 6 March 1876; Collection Eudoxe Marcille ; Remained in the descendants until today.
