Green Amazon parrot with a cherry in its beak. Watercolor and gouache. Captioned in the upper left corner in Latin in a beautiful pen and brown ink calligraphy: Psittacus viridis melanorinchos ex Indiae Occidentalis terra Florida. On the reverse a long text in German of seventeen lines, plus two relating to Robertus Constantinus (Robert Constantin), under the title De Sica Bresilica. 25.6 x 40.5 cm. Slightly insolate; foxing and stains. Analogy: Johann Jakob Walther, Ornithographia (1657); 43.6 x 47.1 cm. in front of a gray-black parrot (?) (Inv. nr. 15548) (Vienna, Graphische Sammlung, Albertina). Presumed provenance: (According to Louise Beaumont - Maillet, the Florilegium of Nassau-Idstein by Johann Walter. Chapter Un artiste strasbourgeois, pp. 72-79 - Bibliothèque Nationale 1993). 1 - Former collection of Claude Aubriet (1665-1742), miniaturist painter and natural history draftsman; his sale in 1742; 2 - Guillaume - Chrétien Lamoignon de Malherbe (1721-1794) for a part; the other, acquired by Michel Begon, passed in 1770 in the collection of the king; 3 - Sale in Leipzig around 1922; 4 - Acquired by a Parisian amateur who gave his plates, or a part of those, to the museums of Strasbourg.
